His practice explores the evolving relationship between people and place through observation, with a strong emphasis on composition, geometry, and visual rhythm. His work approaches everyday life with empathy and attention to quiet moments within it.

His photography has been exhibited internationally in galleries from Asia to Europe. After spending several years living in Japan, his work gained wider attention in Tokyo. He was invited to join the Tokyo Streets photography collective and took part in their inaugural exhibition in Shibuya alongside some of the city’s most established street photographers.


In 2024, Cathal returned to Ireland and has since been actively exhibiting his work. He took part in Culture Night as part of Drogheda’s Night Moves programme, held his largest solo exhibition to date at The Kiosk (Droichead Arts Centre), and was later selected for the 195th Annual Exhibition at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin, where his work was highlighted by The Irish Times as one of “12 must-see artworks” from the show. Most recently, one of his photographs featured on the cover of Goblin magazine’s latest issue, Róidín.
